This station serves the Ravensthorpe area of Dewsbury on the western outskirts of the borough. The area has always been heavily industrial and associated with the textile industry in years gone by. The railway station enjoys a fairly regular service as part of the Huddersfield Railway Line about eight miles from Huddersfield.
