This station serves the Brockholes suburb close to Huddersfield in the western part of the county of Yorkshire. The station is surrounded by a good deal of housing and is well used by commuters travelling both into Huddersfield and across the Pennines to Lancashire. The surroundings are particularly noteworthy due to nearby mountains.
