This station serves the tiny community of Bolton-upon-Dearne in South Yorkshire. There are very few facilities in the village itself and most residents use the station as a way of travelling to the nearby town of Rotherham for their shopping and entertainment needs. The surrounding countryside is quite spectacular and beautiful.
