Barnsley Station is at the centre of Barnsley, a large town in South Yorkshire about twenty miles from Sheffield. The station is surrounded by busy shopping streets and the River Dearne flows nearby. There are a great many famous landmarks within walking distance of this station including Barnsley Town Hall, Cannon Hall Museum, Locke Park, the Cooper Gallery and the home of Barnsley Football Club, Oake Park.
