Around fifteen miles form Dumfries Annan Station is found in a relatively small community based around the river of the same name. The town is a well built sand stone community with a great deal of lovely aestetically pleasing structures from the last few hundred years. Once a maritime hub, the town used to specialise in shipbuilding and although this industry has been in decline for decades it still has a close connection with the sea and the people are employed in maritime pursuits.
