The station is located in the village of Ashurst on the edge of the New Forest National Park. One of the finest woodland national parks in the country, the new Forest sprawls across southern Hampshire containing some fine examples of rare plant and animal life. The village has some basic facilities including a campsite and several public houses. It is a short distance from the bustling metropolitan conurbation of Southampton.
