Pontypridd is a large town of around thirty thousand in population in the Glamorgan area of South Wales. The station is close to the centre of the town and benefits from the fact it is on two railway lines; the Merthyr Line and the Rhondda Railway Line. It has regular services across Wales and fast services to Cardiff available.
