This station isn’t actually situated in Merthyr Tydfill but is in fact the principle rail access point for several small communities outside the town, primarily Merthyr Vale and Aberfan. The station is part of the Merthyr Branch of the Merthyr Line which runs regular services towards the capital of Wales, Cardiff.
