This station is the main passenger terminus for the Colwyn Valley line and serves the slate mining town of the same name. The station shares its facilities with a mainly tourist narrow gauge railway that takes visitors around the local area in old-fashioned miniature style. The area around the station has quite a few facilities geared towards the significant summer tourist trade.
