Barry Island Station serves the peninsular of Barry Island which was once an island but is now connected to the mainland after the construction of Barry Docks. The Island is famous for its pleasure park and beach which both stand within walking distance of the station. There was until recently a famous Butlins holiday camp on the island but this has been dismantled and replaced by housing.
