This station is more centrally located than its nearby neighbour Barry Station. Barry Docks is the heart of the town; it is home to a great deal of industry and remains a working docks for the remaining heavy industry of south Wales. There area a great deal of commercial enterprises set up around the docks and therefore the station is extremely well used by the great many that area employed in the docks and related industries.
