This station doubles up as the south coast access point to the Eurostar international services to mainland Europe and as the main station for the Kent town of Ashford. Ashford is essentially a modern place, although it has a long history, little remains of the old proud town that once stood on the site. In and around the town there are many places of interest including wildlife sanctuaries, a windmill, Brockhill Country Park, Ashford Green Corridor and the North Downs Way, to name but a few.
