Two miles to the west of the edge of Wigan is Upholland Station in the borderlands between metropolitan and rural Lancashire. The small facility is responsible for serving the equally small town of Upholland that is home to a good deal of commuters. The station enjoys services as part of the Kirkby Branch Line.
