The area around the station is known affectionately as ‘the gateway to Cheshire’ because of the large amount of traffic that drives through the town of Hanforth out of the Greater Manchester area. The station itself is served by the Manchester to Crewe Railway Line and has regular trains in both directions throughout the week.
