Burnley has four railway stations and Burnley Manchester Road Station is primarily for services heading out of the city to Blackpool and via the Calverdale Line across country to York and Leeds. The station is not directly linked to the other stations in the town and is therefore often very busy with commuters attempting to cross the Pennines.
