This station serves the Bell Vue and Gorton areas of Greater Manchester. The station is popular for access to the Bell Vue Zoological Gardens and Pleasure Gardens. John Jennison set up this facility in 1836 as a retreat from the busy, dirty streets of the old mill town of Manchester. The site covers 45 acres and has within it a zoo, a fairground and many acres of beautifully crafted and landscaped gardens.
