This station is located in Lancashire close to the coast, Preston and Blackpool. It serves primarily as an access point to the world famous Royal Lytham and St. Annes Golf Course which is a regular host of the Open golf championships. The course is adjacent to the station and during competitions the station is used as the main access point to the course for spectators and the arae can become extremely congested as sports fans from across the world descend on the station.
