Adlington Station is located in Lancashire in the northwest of England close to the West Penine Moors and the town of Chorley. The station was built around the coal mining and textile industries during the industrial revolution but the town fell into decline after their demise during the 1960s. Although the early history of the area is unclear it is thought there are Anglo-Saxon origins. Throughout history the town has enjoyed a close relationship with writers, poets and artists.
