This station serves the twin towns of Abergele and Pensam in North Wales. Both towns are coastal and relatively suburban in character. Although not primarily tourist destinations in their own right the towns are close to the popular seaside resorts of Llandudno and Rhyl. Abergele is famous for Gwyrch Castle which is a magnificent example of a nineteenth century folly.
