Acton is an affluent area of west London close to Ealing. The suburb is primarily residential but has a small selection of shops and entertainment facilities, although most of the local residents travel to Ealing or into central London for large-scale nights out. The population consists of a large number of professional people who commute into the city daily via the Underground and rail networks. There is a significant ethnic population in Acton lending a cosmopolitan charm to the area.
