Snaresbrook is a mainly residential area in the east of the capital. Located in the London Borough of Redbridge on the Central Line, the station serves a cosmopolitan commuter population. Like much of east London the area is relatively deprived and has a number of council estates, but in recent times has become more gentrified. Historically the area would have been in the county of Essex but has long been swallowed into Greater London.
