Immortalised in Leslie Thomas’s 1974 novel Tropic of Ruislip, this area is a suburb in northwest London, a part of the London Borough of Hillingdon. Close to the station is Ruislip Lido that is a converted reservoir with sandy beach, an extremely popular attraction in the summer months. The area also has a 12” gauge railway that surrounds the Lido and parkland. Ruislip High Street has some marvellous listed buildings and examples of fine architecture throughout the ages.
