The station gained immortality in John Betjeman’s poem ‘Middlesex’ where he describes; “Gaily into Ruislip Gardens the red electric train runs ..” The station is the terminus of the Central Line in the west of the capital and is close to Northolt Airport. Ruislip itself is a marvellous town on the edge of London, which contains some wonderful architecture, many public parks and gardens, and a Lido.
