Roding Valley forms one of the borders between the London Borough of Redbridge and the Essex Borough of Epping Forest. The station is located on the Central Line in Travelcard zone 5. It is one of the least used stations on the Underground network and has no staff working at the station. The area surrounding the station is residential and sparsely populated.
