Although Putney is in the name of the station it is located on the north of the River Thames in Fulham. The area is leafy and affluent. Close to the station is Fulham Football Club’s home ground Craven Cottage. On the other side of the station is Bishop’s Park, a large piece of parkland that tracks the northern bank of the river. It contains Fulham Palace that was traditionally home of the Bishop of London, but now contains a small museum.
