North Greenwich Station was built as part of the expansion of the Jubilee Line in the late 1990s. It serves the ancient maritime suburb of Greenwich just south of the River Thames. There are a great many local attractions including Greenwich Market, Greenwich Par, The Royal Maritime Museum, The Greenwich Observatory and The Greenwich Foot Tunnel that leads under the Thames to the Isle of Dogs.
