The main through road Leytonstone High Road is an ancient Roman road that ran out of London to Stratford. In fact a great deal of Roman artefacts have been found in this area of east London. The suburb borders the might Epping Forest that straddles Greater London and Essex. One of the most famous residents of the area was Alfred Hitchcock whose picture adorns many of the walls of the Underground station. Other notable residents have included Damon Albarn of the rock band Blur and footballing legend David Beckham.
