This station is named after the historic London area of greenery, Holland Park. In the west of London, Holland Park is not officially a political subdivision of the capital but rather is part of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. The area is largely leafy and quiet and until the late nineteenth century was considered to be rural by Londoners. Local attractions include the Holland Park Opera, open-air theatre and the green roofed Commonwealth Institute.
