Grange Hill is an area in the London Borough of Redbridge but much of it straddles the Borough of Epping Forest in Essex. Like many of the stations at the far reaches of the Central Line the area has an identity that is quite separate from that of London ‘proper’. The station has no connection with the popular BBC Television programme of the same name, although that programme was set in Greater London and probably inspired by the district. The station closes at 8pm every night.
