Situated in the urban sprawl that intersects Greater London and metropolitan Essex East Ham is a predominantly working class area of east London. Like much of the east end it has enjoyed a great deal of immigration into the area in the last few decades, adding to the colourful nature of the community. Nearby is West Ham United Football Club, one of the largest teams in London with a large support in the area. The station is on the District Line.
