Dagenham is a metropolitan area on the border between Greater London and Essex. It is probably best known for the large Ford car manufacturing plant that has been one of the largest employers in the area for many years. The station buildings are typical examples of late Victorian architecture. On the District Line, Dagenham East is in Travelcard zone 5 on the Upminster branch of the line.
