This is one of the many sub-surface stations on the Circle Line situated directly below the mainline station of the same name. Nearby is Shakespeare’s Globe theatre that is a popular attraction with visitors to the area. What appears to be a Tudor theatre next to the Thames is in fact an almost perfect reconstruction of the original theatre that burned down many hundreds of years ago. One can either watch a play at the theatre or take a tour during the day. The station is in Travelcard zone 1.
