The station is located at the northern end of Caledonian Road in the London Borough of Holloway. It is extremely close to both Pentonville Prison that is one of the largest in London. Nearby on Market Road is the site of the former Victorian Cattle Market. On the Piccadilly Line in zone 2 the station is one of the few ‘deep shaft’ interchanges to exclusively use lifts instead of escalators.
