Watling Street that the station is adjacent to is thought to have been a Roman road that ran down the centre of England directly into the middle of the capital. In the London Borough of Barnet, Burnt Oak is a leafy suburb of north London on the Edgware branch of the Northern Line in Travelcard zone 4. The station was built in 1927 and is close to Collindale.
