This station is a star of television, featuring as the fictional ‘Walford East’ tube station in popular BBC television soap opera Eastenders. The real station is one of east London’s transport hubs, serving a busy community around the Blackwall area. In order to not be confused with Bromley in south London the ‘by-Bow’ section of the name was added in 1967. The District and Hammersmith and City lines in zone 2 serve the station.
