The station is quite unique for a London Underground interchange in that it is in an almost rural setting, surrounded by fields to the east. Located at the end of a long cul-de-sac in the Borough of Redbridge the station is in Travelcard zone 5 and on the Central Line towards Epping. The station itself is an attraction as W.N. Ashbee the Great Northern Railways architect designed it and is Grade II listed for preservation.
