Originally named Aldersgate, Barbican station is located at the heart of ’the city’, London’s financial district. Nearby is Smithfield’s Meat Market, one of the largest and most famous markets in the capital, often referred to as ’the larder of London’. The station is in Travelcard zone 1 and serves both the Circle and Hammersmith and City lines. Next-door is a mainline station of the same name.
