Angel station is famed for having the longest escalator in Western Europe. It rises nearly 90 feet and the total length of the staircase is nearly 187 feet. Situated in the Angel area of trendy Islington, the station is served by the Bank branch of the northern line. Originally built as an island platform similar to that at Clapham Common, the station was extensively renovated in 1990. It is in Travelcard zone 1.
