Lowestoft is an important seaside town and port in Suffolk. The station stands at the heart of the historic old town and acts as the terminus of two railway lines, the Wherry Line and the East Suffolk Railway Line. According to the Strategic Rail Authority, Lowestoft is the second most used station in the county after Ipswich.
