Althorne is a tiny village station in rural Essex. It is located in a beautiful, quiet and tranquil community close to Chelmsford, the county town. The village has a few basic facilities including two public houses and a shop. The River Crouch flows close by to the village. It is a popular place for pleasure boating and walking along the banks in the summer months. The station is on the Southminster Line.
