This station is based on the Carlisle to Settle Line and is close to Carlisle. Armathwaite is a pleasant Cumbrian village in the Lake District. The River Eden flows through the charming settlement which is famous for its salmon fishing. Tourists come from far and wide to walk the beautiful banks of the river and enjoy the spectacular green rolling hills. The village has a working water mill and is home to Armathwaite Castle, a four storey pele tower on the banks of the river which was converted into a country house in 1752.
